Blog #7 Spoonfeeding Hollywood

Opening Scene
The scene is very solumn, moving over scenery and a lake, eventually ending up at an empty rocking chair.

Setting up the Story
Here we learn that Donald is colorblind. This is when we find out he's drafted into the war and he needs to leave Ana. This is where he makes her promise that she won't die with him.

Inciting Incident
This is when the battle in the war occurs where Donalds dog tag falls off. Ana gets word that Donald has died in the war, but really he's being helped by a man he found in a secluded house.

The Big Decision
Ana is going to move on with her life. She eventually finds a husband and they have a child quickly. She names the child Thomas after Donald's last name

Into the Wide Unknown
Donald can finally come home after a few years with the man in the woods and go see Ana. Ana is surprised he's there and doesn't know what to do, but from that day forward she left her new husband and Thomas behind

Subplot
Donald and Ana live their life normally, but Donald can tell that she isn't the same. She asks him why they've never had children, and he flashes back to when his little brother drowned when they were playing. Donald feels like he can't take care of a child.

Having Fun and Getting to Know your Characters
Donald and Thomas get to know eachother better.

All is Lost
Donald and Thomas start to drift

Aha Moment!
Donald realizes Thomas is his son! He figures this out because Thomas is colorblind, as is Donald, however Ana was not colorblind.

  1. I like what you have for your Hollywood outline! I feel like it's a bit to short to get any actual idea about what your story is going to be about. Just add a little more information and you should be all set!

  2. Very clear, moves the plot forward well. One suggestion: Ana's decision to leave her new family to return to her old husband sounds a little too easy as written above. I think it would take some more torn indecision and doubt on her part than could be fit in those two sentences.
